Create print layouts with the correct size and units

Set a Print Studio page size in inches, position artwork, save the layout and export a print PDF.

Set the physical page size in StoryCraft Print Studio, place your artwork with precise margins, and choose an export for your printer. This example creates a 6 × 6 inch flyer with a centered 5 × 5 inch image and a half-inch white border.

Before you begin

Confirm the finished size, bleed requirements, and accepted file format with your printer. Have the artwork you want to use in Media Library. This example uses the saved image Home services announcement.

1. Open Print Studio

Select StoryCraft - Content & Media in the left navigation, then open Content Hub. In the STUDIOS section, select Print.

A new Print page starts at 8.5 × 11 inches. The canvas appears in the center, the content tabs are on the left, and the PAGE controls are on the right.

2. Enter the page size in inches

With no layer selected, find Width and Height in the PAGE panel. If layer properties are showing, click a blank area of the workspace outside the page to clear the selection.

For this example, replace Width with 6 and Height with 6. Click outside the fields and confirm that both values remain 6 and the page is square.

The dimensions in a new Print project use inches. There is no unit selector beside these fields. Enter 6 for a six-inch page; do not enter a pixel count such as 600 or 1800. If your printer supplies millimeters, divide that measurement by 25.4 to convert it to inches before entering it.

Use your printer's requested finished size for your own project. The 6 × 6 inch size here is an example.

3. Add your artwork

Select Files on the left. Find your artwork in the library list, using Search Library... if needed, then select its thumbnail to place it on the page.

To follow this example, select Home services announcement. The image appears on the canvas with a selection outline. Its properties appear on the right under IMAGE and LAYOUT.

This places the exported artwork as one image layer. If you need to change the words inside that image, edit its original design and export an updated image.

4. Set the image size and position

With the image selected, enter these values in LAYOUT:

  • X: 0.5
  • Y: 0.5
  • W: 5
  • H: 5

These values use the Print project's inch units. X and Y position the image half an inch from the page's left and top edges. W and H make it five inches wide and five inches high.

On a 6 × 6 inch page, this leaves a 0.5 inch white border on every side. Click outside the page to clear the selection, then review the layout and check that PAGE still shows Width 6 and Height 6.

Use artwork with enough resolution for its printed size. Enlarging a small image can make text and edges look soft in print, so inspect a proof before approving the job.

5. Check margins and bleed

The white border in this example is an intentional margin. Keep important text and logos away from the trim edge and follow the safe-area guidance your printer provides.

A new Print project has a 0.125 inch bleed setting. For edge-to-edge artwork, the design must extend into the required bleed area. Choosing an export with crop and bleed marks does not create extra artwork beyond the edge.

Ask your printer whether they want marks and what bleed they require. Match those requirements when preparing your own layout and export.

6. Save the editable project

Select Save in the upper-right corner. Wait for All changes saved before leaving the editor.

Saving keeps the editable Print project. Exporting creates a separate output file for sharing or printing.

7. Choose the export your printer needs

Select Export.... The menu offers:

  • PDF/X-3 · press-ready CMYK for the print-oriented PDF export
  • PDF/X-3 · with crop & bleed marks when your printer requests those marks
  • PDF · standard RGB, for email/screen for a screen-oriented PDF
  • JPEG proof · quick sign-off for reviewing the appearance

This example selects PDF/X-3 · press-ready CMYK, the first option, without crop and bleed marks. Wait for the rendering progress to finish and for the export-complete message.

Crop and bleed marks can make the exported sheet larger than the finished trim size. Before sending a file to print, check the trim size and inspect the exported proof for text, image quality, margins, and any required bleed. A proof is a review step; use the final format your printer accepts for production.

8. Find and name the exported file

Open Media Library and find the newest Print Studio export item. Move over its card and select the pencil icon to open Edit media.

Replace the Title with a descriptive name. This example uses Square home services flyer. Select Save, then confirm the updated title appears on the card.

Expected result

You have a saved 6 × 6 inch Print project containing a centered 5 × 5 inch image with a half-inch white border. A separate print PDF export is available in Media Library under Square home services flyer.
