Save, restore and export a StoryCraft project

Save project versions, restore a snapshot, export an image, organize it in Media Library, and reopen your editable design.

Save an editable Design Studio project, return to an earlier saved version, and export a finished image to Media Library. This guide also shows how to organize the exported asset and reopen the project for more editing.

Before you begin

Open a design in StoryCraft Design Studio. The example starts with the navy home services announcement created in Create and edit a design in StoryCraft Studio.

1. Save the editable project

Select Save in the upper-right corner of Design Studio. Wait for All changes saved. A version-history clock icon appears beside the saved status. After the first Save, later edits save automatically. Wait for All changes saved before leaving. You can also select Save when you reach a version you want to keep.

2. Create another saved version

Make a change, then select Save again. In this example, the page background changes from navy to green. After All changes saved appears, select the version-history clock. The Version history dialog lists snapshots from your saves. Use each thumbnail and date or time to identify the version you want.

3. Restore the version you want

In Version history, select Restore beside the snapshot you want to use. The selected design returns to the canvas. In this example, restoring the earlier snapshot brings back the navy background. Review the restored result. If you want to return to the state you had immediately before restoring, select Undo in the editor toolbar. Select Redo to apply the restoration again. In the example, Undo brings back green and Redo returns to navy. Once the canvas shows the version you want to keep, select Save and wait for All changes saved.

4. Choose an export format

Select Export... in the upper-right corner. The menu offers:

  • PNG: lossless, with transparency support
  • JPEG: smaller, without transparency
  • WebP: small, with transparency support

Select PNG to follow this example. Wait for the export to finish. StoryCraft renders the design and adds the exported image to Media Library. A filled page background, such as the navy used here, remains part of the image.

5. Find the exported image

Select Media Library in the top navigation. Find the new image card named Design Studio export. The example card shows the navy artwork, a Studio source label, and the export tag. Check that the thumbnail matches the design you intended to export. You can use Search by name or tag... to find the asset again.

6. Give the exported asset a useful name

In Media Library, move over the exported image card and select its pencil icon. The Edit media dialog opens with Title, Folder, and Tags fields. For this example, enter:

  • Title: Home services announcement
  • Folder: Social
  • Tags (comma-separated): export, home, announcement

Select Save. Confirm that the updated title, Social folder label, and tags appear on the card. To locate it later, enter home in the search field; select Social in the folder filter if you want to narrow the results further.

Keep the project and its export easy to recognize

The Media Library card is the exported image. To change the design itself, reopen the saved Studio project from Content Hub, make your edits, and save. Export again when you need an image of the revised design.

7. Reopen the editable project

Select Content Hub, then scroll to Recent content. Select the Studio filter and open the Design Studio project card. The card name may include the date it was created. The project opens in Design Studio. Check the canvas and page properties to confirm that you have the correct saved version. In this example, the navy background and both edited text lines return, and the editor reports 5 layer(s). Select Layers when you are ready to edit an individual element. Continue using Save to preserve your changes and Export to create an updated image.

Expected result

Your editable project is saved and can be reopened. You can restore a previous snapshot, undo or redo that restoration, and export a PNG into Media Library. The exported asset has a useful title, folder, and tags for finding it again.
